IT Retained Search
Retained search is recommended for senior technical, managerial and International appointments as well as high volume recruitment drives.

TAGs rate for Retained search services vary depending on the volume of recruitment and the the candidates starting salary.  Due to the nature of the work this is payable in three instalments:

  • One third of the anticipated fee on commencement of work
  • One third  upon presentation of the candidates
  • And the final third or the outstanding balance upon completion of assignment.

The Retained Search Process

The retained search process is different to regular recruitment in that it incorporates a set criteria and more thorough industry search in order to obtain the best candidates for any given role. To begin with a senior TAG recruitment consultant spends time on site and working with staff to obtain a thorough understanding of the company they are recruiting for as well as fully understand all requirements of the position. This provides us not only with an idea of the type of company, but also with a better understanding of what the job will involve and the type of candidate that would perform best for you as well as ensuring the position is right for the candidates we find.

The next step is finding similar competing organisations using similar technologies, with a similar cultural fit as these are the companies that the ideal candidate is probably currently working for. Retained Search frequently involves candidates that may already be employed and may not be considering a move, but the opportunity is made available in case the candidate is interested.  As well as scouting for candidates that are currently employed in similar organisations we will also advertise for and search a variety of databases, use Social Networks and use personal contacts and networking to find active and passive candidates that may be suitable due to previous recent experiences.  Potential candidates are contacted, and their work records and qualifications undergo a screening process. They are also be made aware of the opportunity available and asked about their interest in the job offer.

Once a selection of suitable candidates have been found an intensive evaluation process begins. We will take time to meet, interview and assess candidates evaluating past performance in similar work environments. The future potential of the candidate is also evaluated, as well as the compatibility of the employee and employer.  The five (more or less can be requested) best candidates will then be presented to the employer to meet and make a selection from.

Retained Search saves time for both the employer and the candidate however takes up a huge amount of time and resources for us!  We only accept a limited number of assignments at a time in order to give each one the full amount of time it deserves.
